My Sylhet Travel Story

On 01 May 2026, I visited one of the most popular travel destinations in Bangladesh. In this post, I have written about how the journey started, how I enjoyed it, and the places I explored.

The main reason behind writing this post is simple. I want this travel memory to stay recorded for myself, so that whenever I wish, I can come back, read it, and relive the experience again. I hope you will also enjoy knowing about my journey.

The Journey Begins

The whole idea of this trip was first shared with me almost like a prank. At first, I actually believed it. But later, when I thought about it properly, I realized there was a clear difference between what I had heard and the actual situation. Then it did not take me long to understand that it was a prank.

But soon after that, I came to know the real news. I was actually going on a tour, and the destination was Sylhet, Bangladesh. Sylhet has so many beautiful places to see, and I could already feel that this journey was going to be very enjoyable for me.

Packing Begins

After knowing the exact date of the tour, I started packing. I believe it is always better to take enough time and pack properly instead of rushing everything at the last moment.

I took a small bag, but because of the clothes, it still became quite full. The good thing is that this time I managed to take only the clothes I actually wore. I hope on my next tour, I will be able to reduce the amount even more.

Starting the Trip

I am very punctual about time. I like doing everything on time. But on the day of the trip, I could not leave at the time I was supposed to. It was not because of me. If I had left home at the time I was ready, I would have reached on time without any problem.

But I had to wait for someone, and because of that, I could not start exactly when I planned. Still, I reached at a good time, and everything was fine.

On the Way

Just like everyone feels excited while going on a tour, I was also feeling that excitement inside me. But because of the current situation in Bangladesh, we had to wait for a long time on the road for vehicle gas.

There was also some difficulty with food, but when you are going somewhere exciting, these little struggles do not really feel like struggles. The excitement makes everything easier.

A Beautiful Cottage Under the Hills

On the first day of the Sylhet tour, we stayed at a resort. I reached there at night, and everything around was very dark. But from a distance, I could hear the sound of a waterfall. It felt like this was the kind of place people wait for when they want to spend a peaceful holiday.

After checking in, I went to sleep at the resort. In the morning, I woke up to a beautiful environment and a mesmerizing view. Our room was on the fourth floor of the cottage, and from there, the hills looked incredibly beautiful. It is hard to describe that feeling in words.

I went outside, enjoyed the place, and took many photos.

Visiting Jaflong and Then Exploring Bisnakandi

Around 10 in the morning, we left the cottage and headed towards Jafflong. After reaching there, I saw the houses on the Indian side. From a distance, they looked very beautiful, almost like small mushrooms sitting inside the hills.

While enjoying the beauty, we started going down towards the main spot, one of the most popular tourist places in Bangladesh. But sadly, there were not as many stones as before. Even during the rainy season, there was very little water. So, I decided not to go down further.

The worst restaurant of my life ‍(above picture). Where your stomach's hunger disappears just waiting for the food. When I reached Jaflong, I went to this restaurant and sat down for food. They served me food once, then when we asked for it again, I saw that it was very late in serving them, which is very bad. I would 100% recommend not going to this restaurant.

I was surprised by one thing about Jaflong. There were many shops selling different Indian products. I bought soap, chocolates, and a few other things. Since it was raining a lot, we got wet on the road while shopping. After finishing everything, we left the place.

The day I visited was Friday, 01 May 2026. After completing the Friday prayer and other work, we again started our journey toward Bisnakandi tourist spot.

After reaching Bisnakandi, we rented a small engine boat. It moved almost like a trawler. The water coming from the hills was very cold. It was a little muddy in some places, but also clear in others.

After going there, I saw beautiful hills. The hills, the river, and nature together created a wonderful scene. Since it had rained earlier, the leaves of the trees looked even greener, and that made the beauty many times greater. The whole place looked unbelievably beautiful. It is really difficult to express that beauty in words.

Then we reached the main spot of Bisnakandi. There were many stones, and the place looked amazing. The river was flowing with a strong current, and the water was very clear. I bathed there for a while, enjoyed the water, and had a good time.

After that, I noticed some people coming from India through a bridge with different goods. I do not know how legal that was, but maybe this is one reason why things are cheaper there.

Then we explored the area and had food there. But honestly, the food quality was very poor. We had to wait for a long time, and even after that, they took too much time to serve the food. I did not like that at all. The rice and beef were not good in taste or cooking quality.

After that, I returned to my resort and checked out.

Journey Towards Srimangal

After leaving the resort, I started my journey towards Srimangal. My main purpose was to see the famous tea gardens of Srimangal because I had never seen a tea garden before.

I was very excited that day because this was going to be my first time seeing a tea garden.

When I went to Srimangal, a strong storm started from the morning. The storm kept getting stronger for some time, but by noon, it became much lighter. Then we went out and headed towards Srimangal.

After reaching there, the first thing that caught my eye was the pineapple of that area. Each pineapple cost only 20 taka. I ate three, but still, it did not feel enough. The taste was so good.

Then we entered the garden and started walking. The first thing I noticed was a lake. There was a large water lake with different colored lotus and water lily flowers.

After that, we slowly walked up through the muddy path. Because of the rain, the path was slippery, but it did not create any problem while going up or coming down. Instead, I enjoyed it a lot.

The beautiful environment and closeness to nature gave me a refreshing feeling. It even increased my motivation to work.

We spent a lot of time there, and in the afternoon, we started our return journey. Before leaving, we bought tea from that garden. The tea was truly very good, and the taste was amazing.

There was a clear difference between the tea they served there and the tea leaves we bought. The taste and smell were both different.

Then it was time to return. On the way back, we ate at the famous Rizik Restaurant in Moulvibazar. After that, we started our journey home.
